Kate Barnes is a Research Assistant working with Dr. Liliana Rojas-Suarez. She holds a BA in Political Science, Latin American Studies, and Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and she is currently working towards her Master of International Development Policy from Georgetown University. Kate has conducted past research on the political economy of Latin America, focusing on inequality, electoral outcomes, and regional trade unions. Prior to joining CGD, she was a research assistant for DevLab@Penn, where she analyzed impact evaluations in Uganda and Colombia, and for the Penn Program on Opinion Research and Election Studies, where she contributed to election night coverage for the NBC News Decision Desk. She is passionate about sustainable development and expanding economic opportunity in the Americas.
