Sophie Witter is a health economist and health system researcher with more than 35 years of experience in global health. She is Professor of International Health Financing and Health Systems at the Institute for Global Health and Development, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Co-Research Director of the ReBUILD for Resilience Consortium.
Her work has focussed on addressing financial barriers to health care in low and middle-income countries, health financing strategy development, provider payments and incentives, political economy analysis, health system strengthening and resilience, equity and inclusion in health systems, aid architecture, getting research into practice, and evaluation of complex interventions. Since 2011, much of her research has focused on fragile and conflict-affected settings.
