On July 22 in London, British Prime Minister David Cameron hosted the Girl Summit with UNICEF, which brought together community leaders, governments, international organizations and the private sector to build on current efforts and rally a global movement to end Female Genital Mutilation and Child, Early and Forced Marriage in a generation.

In conjunction with British Embassy, Girls Not Brides USA, and the Coalition for Adolescent Girls, the Center for Global Development will host a Washington satellite event that day with US-based experts and advocates and US government representation discussing the two Summit themes -- "Sharing What Works" and "Agreeing an Agenda for Change." The CGD event will also feature video excerpts from the London Summit, including the speech by USAID administrator Raj Shah on US commitments; panel participants in Washington will then offer comments on Shah's remarks.
