Rachel Cassidy is a non-resident fellow at CGD. She is an economist at the World Bank's Africa Gender Innovation Lab, and is affiliated with the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the University of Oxford's Centre for the Study of African Economies. Rachel's current research focuses on efforts to promote women's and girls' economic empowerment, financial inclusion, and broader welfare. Rachel holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford, where she also completed her MSc and BA studies. She has also worked as an economist at the European Commission, providing economic analysis and policy input for the MENA region and the G20.
