Moses Ngware

Moses Ngware is Senior Research Scientist, and Head of Education and Youth Empowerment research unit at the African Population and Health Research Center, where he has worked since 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics of Education from Egerton University, Kenya, where he also taught as a Senior Lecturer. Ngware has also been Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. He is a DAAD scholar, and the recipient of the 2018/19 best Accomplished Educational Researcher Award by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa for the distinctive research on education policies and practices in Africa. He served as policy analyst, social sector, at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, and also led the Education Working Group under the INDEPTH Network that had 36 Demographic Surveillance Sites spread in 12 countries in Africa. Ngware’s main research focus on education policies and interventions in sub-Saharan Africa including work on effectiveness on teaching and learning interventions inside the classroom. He has led over 18 field research projects, and contributed to over 100 publications including journal articles in leading academic journals, book and book chapters, working and discussion papers, technical reports, and policy briefs.
