The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), a specialized health agency of the Inter-American System and Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is an essential organization for the health of the people of Latin America and the Caribbean. As health systems and economies recover from COVID-19, PAHO faces a golden opportunity to incorporate lessons learned during the pandemic and advance efforts to expand equitable access to health technologies and services across the region and achieve universal health care.

Join the Center for Global Development for an in-person conversation with PAHO director, Jarbas Barbosa. Six-months into his role, Barbosa will discuss his priorities for PAHO, including structural changes to advance his vision and the connection between strengthening health systems and pandemic preparedness in Latin America and the Caribbean.
