Ghanaian Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, joins CGD President Masood Ahmed to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, the state of the continent's response, and the challenges ahead. As Chair of the joint Bank-IMF Development Committee Minister Ofori-Atta has collaborated with his South African counterpart (current Chair of the African Union) to lead a joint African response to COVID19. After two virtual meetings under their leadership, the African Finance Ministers requested $100 billion in support, as well as debt relief, to deal with the economic fallout of the pandemic.
