Flavia Bustreo: Making Partnerships for Mothers and Children (The Lancet)

June 07, 2010

The Lancet quotes CGD visiting fellow April Harding on Flavia Bustreo's maternal health leadership.

From the article:

"April Harding, of the Center for Global Development, comments that Bustreo “doesn't sweep uncomfortable facts under the rug—an all-too-rare quality among leaders in global health”. Instead, Harding, who worked with Bustreo while she was on secondment to the World Bank, explains that Bustreo “constantly breaks boundaries, and builds bridges, to establish understanding and collaboration”. Bustreo now faces an intense time of travelling and “making space for dialogue to occur”. But Tore Godal, Special Adviser to the Norwegian Prime Minister on global health, says Bustreo is uniquely qualified for the work she is doing because of “her technical understanding of the subject, her understanding of the political aspects, and also her unique, strong drive and commitment”."
