Restructuring the Asian Development Bank

Overview

In 2015 the Asian Development Bank announced a merger of its loan and grant funds, allowing it to increase its lending capital substantially. This followed a formal independent assessment of the proposal at the request of the bank’s donors by CGD’s Nancy Birdsall, Scott Morris, and Enrique Rueda-Sabater.  The restructuring and provides an important launch point for further innovations and much-needed flexibility to the multilateral development bank model.
