Africa emerged from a COVID-induced recession this year, but growth is projected to be lower than in advanced economies and emerging markets. And as one crisis passes, another threatens Africa's long-term economic health: climate change.
Despite being the lowest contributor to global emissions, sub-Saharan Africa will be the region hit hardest by climate change, from rising temperatures to extreme and destructive weather events. The only path to a durable recovery will be through a green transition that builds the resilience and adaptability of African economies.
