Will Climate Change Derail Africa's Economic Recovery?

This event is co-hosted with the World Bank.

Africa emerged from a COVID-induced recession this year, but growth is projected to be lower than in advanced economies and emerging markets. And as one crisis passes, another threatens Africa's long-term economic health: climate change.

Despite being the lowest contributor to global emissions, sub-Saharan Africa will be the region hit hardest by climate change, from rising temperatures to extreme and destructive weather events. The only path to a durable recovery will be through a green transition that builds the resilience and adaptability of African economies.

On Wednesday at 9am ET, join the World Bank and CGD to discuss the newest release of the Africa's Pulse report from the World Bank, the impact of climate change on Africa's economic outlook, and how the crisis can be an opportunity for economic transformation and job creation.

Moderator

Gyude Moore, senior policy fellow, Center for Global Development
