In the first Understanding India Seminar of the fall season Rukmini Banerji will discuss insights on the challenges of scaling up in development. Banerji will share lessons from her notable experience, as the Programme Director of Pratham, one of India’s most successful education non-profits, and as the one of the leaders of the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) – the largest annual study ever done by Indian citizens to monitor the status of elementary education in India. The ASER effort has been widely recognized for pioneering new approaches in assessing student learning outcomes and for its innovative use of citizens’ participation in improving the delivery of services.

*The Understanding India Seminars Series is organized by CGD's Understanding India initiative, which explores India's development challenges and experiences and the lessons they might offer for other developing countries.*
