Center for Global Development hosted Measuring Governance: Possibilities and Pitfalls with Daniel Kaufmann, Director of Global Programs at World Bank Institute and Aart Kraay, Lead Economist with Development Research Group at World Bank. Kaufmann and Kraay presented the latest update of the Worldwide Governance Indicators (produced by Kaufmann and Kraay, with Massimo Mastruzzi) covering over 200 countries for the past decade. Following the presentation, Steve Radelet moderated a conversation with the panelists--including Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Former Minister of Finance, Nigeria and Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Brookings Institution, and Marianne Camerer, Co-founder and International Director, Global Integrity--exploring the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches to measuring governance, as interest in governance by donors and developing countries has grown in recent years.
