ABOUT THE EVENT

Extensive international evidence demonstrates that investing in women makes good business sense. Yet despite the clear commercial case for investing in women as entrepreneurs, workers, and consumers, women continue to be under-represented and under-valued across the corporate value chain. In response to this, an increasing number of investors, including development finance institutions (DFIs) are applying gender lens investing strategies to their activities. Join CGD, in partnership with the CDC Group, FinDev Canada, and OPIC for an event that will highlight the experiences of three women entrepreneurs from South Asia, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as representatives from DFIs seeking to implement gender lens investing strategies. We will discuss how DFIs are engaging with women entrepreneurs in emerging markets to address women’s under-representation and under-recognition in business leadership, employment, and consumption decisions.

A light breakfast will be served at 8:30am.
