The premier health policy journal Health Affairs and the Center for Global Development invite you to attend the launch of the journal’s new global health policy initiative with the release of its March/April issue. Supported by a five-year grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Health Affairs is embracing global health policy as a part of its core mission, building upon highly respected coverage of domestic health policy and a long-standing concern about health issues that face all nations.
Seven feature papers in the new issue address pressing topics in global health policy. At the briefing, a panel of experts will address three of these articles:
• Calling for an immediate global subsidy of new, proven therapies to fight the emergence of multi-drug resistant malaria;
• Proposing a unique voucher system for pharmaceutical companies to encourage development of drugs for neglected diseases; and
• Advocating an increased role for private health insurance—including through subsidies—in poor countries, where most pay out of pocket or forgo health care.
These and other topics will be addressed by a panel of global health care experts at the briefing. Copies of the journal will be available.
