The theme of this year’s Fifth Annual Health Financing Forum (AHFF) is Health Financing Resilience and Sustainability. Kicking-off in July, the first part of the Forum will explore key issues of health financing resilience in the face of COVID-19. The second part, tentatively scheduled for November 2020, will focus on health financing sustainability and understanding how to identify the most vulnerable countries and how to best assist them during and after the COVID-19 crisis. This year the AHFF will also launch the Adam Wagstaff Memorial Lecture on Health Economics, a session that will become a permanent feature of the Forum.

Dr. Kalipso Chalkidou will be presenting during the Resource Mobilization and Prioritization session, scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday, 7th July 2020, at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm BST. This session will cover questions relating to projections of health spending in 2020 and 2021 and then explore how countries have sought to mobilise funds for their pandemic response and maintain other essential health services at a time when government revenue and household incomes are declining. It will conclude by exploring what lessons have been learned that might be useful in case of a second wave, or in preparation for any future pandemics.
