William Easterly discussed his somewhat ambivalent feelings about foreign aid effectiveness contained in his new book. The author wonders, could it possibly be time yet for an end to the impunity of foreign aid that has spent $2.3 trillion over 5 decades and left the desperate needs of the world's poor so tragically unmet? Do recent plans to end world poverty actually make the problems of aid worse rather than better? The author spoke about his views as to why things went so wrong, and what can be done to put them right.
