Accelerating the Development of a Pathbreaking Universal Drug Regimen to End TB

Per the high-level political declaration on the fight against tuberculosis, we are committed to mobilizing sufficient and sustainable financing for universal access to quality prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of tuberculosis.

The Market-driven Value-based Advance Commitment (MVAC) is a novel pull mechanism led by middle-income countries with high TB burdens. These countries would make advance purchase commitments for the UDR, with pricing and volumes determined for each country based on country-level value assessments. Country commitments would be guaranteed by an AAA-rated development bank, sending a credible market signal to spark investments in late-stage trials and bring the UDR to market.
