Where Does Your Country Rank on Development? – CDI Podcast with Ian Mitchell and Anita Käppeli

How well do your country's policies make a positive difference for people in developing nations? That’s the question CGD seeks to answer each year in our Commitment to Development Index (CDI). The team behind the CDI, deputy director of CGD Europe Ian Mitchell and policy analyst Anita Käppeli, join me to discuss why these rankings matter, how countries stack up, and how their scores may be impacted by the shifting political environment.

Britain's Aid Budget: Money Well Spent? – Owen Barder on BBC

Today we present a slightly unusual edition of the CGD Podcast. We are bringing you highlights of an excellent discussion held at CGD's offices in London which involved, among others, CGD’s Owen Barder. It was a special edition of the Radio 4 program The World Tonight, organized and broadcast by my former colleagues at BBC Radio. The discussion focused on the UK's aid budget.

Brexit Breakdown: What Now for Global Development? Podcast with Owen Barder

It’s been three weeks since the UK voted to leave the European Union in the move popularly known as Brexit, and the consequences are still becoming apparent. Senior fellow and director of CGD Europe Owen Barder joins the podcast from London this week to take a balanced look at possibilities for the UK’s future, and consider implications for the country and the developing world.

CGD in Europe – Owen Barder

Most Wonkcasts focus on CGD’s research and policy work. This one is different. My guest is Owen Barder and our topic is CGD itself, specifically the effort that Owen is leading to greatly increase the Center’s engagement in Europe. Owen, a CGD senior fellow and director for Europe, previously worked for CGD on our Advance Market Commitment initiative, which led to a $1.5 billion pilot commitment to purchase and ensure delivery of new vaccines to prevent pneumococcal disease. He subsequently spent three years in Ethiopia and recently resumed working for CGD, based in London, to strengthen the Center’s ties with the European development research and policy community. [Note: Owen continues to maintain his own excellent blog, Owen Abroad and to host occasional podcasts, Development Drums; these are also now available on the CGD Website multimedia page.]
