Ghanaians to Monitor the MCA

September 05, 2006

It should come as no surprise that I am thrilled to see another MCA Monitor emerge. And even more thrilled that it has emerged where perhaps it matters most -- in an MCA country itself. Last week, Ghanaian financial journalists announced the launch of their own MCA Watch to monitor projects and disbursements under Ghana's $547 million MCA compact.Much like in-country civil society monitoring mechanisms set up to track the use and impact of debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries program, this organization can play an important role in promoting accountability and lessons learned under the program.
