FT Puts MCC Funding as 1 of 4 Priorities for New Treasury Secretary

May 31, 2006

The Secretary of the Treasury is a big, big job. Remarkably, an FT editorial cites 4 priorities for incumbent Hank Paulson. In addition to not talking up the dollar, reforming the IMF, and championing fiscal responsibility, Paulson should fight for full funding of the MCC.

"Mr Paulson should work with Condoleezza Rice, secretary of state, to ensure Congress provides full funding for the president's millennium challenge corporation. The future of Africa is too important for Congress to be allowed to skimp on US support now."
It's nice to see the MCC and U.S. partnership with Africa up there on the totem pole.
