Memo to President-Elect Obama: Make U.S. HIV/AIDS Money More Effective by Releasing Data

In a new CGD policy memo, Nandini Oomman, director of the HIV/AIDS Monitor, urges President-elect Barack Obama and his transition team to quickly release program and expenditure data for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Releasing the data—which have already been collected at tax payer expense—would make possible better analysis on the impact of the billions of dollars that the United States spends to help developing countries address the pandemic.
