Poder360° -- a Latin American publication with wide circulation in the region -- interviewed Liliana Rojas-Suarez about her book Growing Pains in Latin America (and accompanying brief). In the article, she discussed the growth model that Latin America has followed since the 1990s and compares this with the models of other regions during this time, such as Asia. She highlighted that the unique feature of Latin America is the combination of being the most financially open, the most democratic and the most unequal (in terms of income) region in the developing world. Policies and reforms aiming at delivering growth on a sustainable basis need to take into account these particular characteristics.
