Gift From Senegal President Spurs IMF Inquiry (Wall Street Journal)
November 02, 2009
The Wall Street Journal quotes CGD visiting fellow Nuhu Ribadu on corruption.
From the article:
"Nuhu Ribadu, a former anticorruption prosecutor in Nigeria who follows African affairs closely, dismissed the Senegalese explanation. "It's outright bribery," he said. "Imagine this gift was given by the president of the United States. What would you call it?"
Mr. Ribadu resigned his post under pressure at the end of last year and escaped what he said were assassination attempts by Nigerian officials. He is currently a researcher at the Center for Global Development, a research group in Washington."
